More than street photos
The more I shoot, the more I'm enamored with B&W because I feel the initial impact of color can too often overpower a narrative. B&W demands instant involvement and subjectivity from the viewer. A photograph can create its own narrative or be aesthetically pleasing, i.e. a balanced assemblage of forms, shades and textures that promote interest and eye movement. A good photograph will do both. I see each shot as a canvas, and I crop and manipulate freely to achieve those goals.
