Dance Like an Egyptian

Portrayed as a quest, the project "DANCE LIKE AN EGYPTIAN" celebrates a contemporary perspective of modern Egypt. It displays an artistic exploration of culture and the nature of a selected group of groundbreaking individuals and through them unveils the restless and bold spirit underneath Egypt´s social scene. A land full of desire, hope and longing. In an exercise of breaking through the stereotypes surrounding the Middle East in general and Egypt in particular, this work shows people´s passion and their way of life in an adverse environment. Its a story about artists, creators, passionate and hard working performers... Contemporary dancers shot in the streets and public spaces of Cairo and Alexandria, displaying the surroundings and adding context to the story; It gives hints of the environment and reflects some of the arab/muslim atmosphere without being obvious and staying away from romantic clichés.
