In 2006, a trip to Italy made Gaumé un-learn and re-learn how to capture and frame photographic images. Whereas his Automorphoses could be seen as anamorphoses he swiftly captured on car bodies in cities he walked through, these peculiar photographic objects were exhibited in some of these cities (mainly Paris, France and San Francisco, California). To this day, the Automorphoses are still Gaumé's most important artwork series and visual trademark. In 2020, some of the Automorphoses Gaumé shot in Milan, Italy will be featured in a solo show in this city, within a gallery taking part in Milan's 15th Photo Festival.
