Half, Past

India, is on a massive road building campaign, cutting shops and houses in half to make way for new roads.  My work shows the highway that is consuming the land and the mutilated building displaced by that same highway. I am exploring one dimension of the human cost of India’s modernization, alluding to the ways people are inseparable from and intertwined within certain spaces, even if those spaces are no longer their’s to physically occupy.
