I've never really done portraits and I wanted to push myself outside my comfort zone. I wanted to see how to connect with my subject and understand how a non-commercial project would be like. After this experience, lighting can just do so much, I realized as a photographer there's a different way to motivate your subject for portraiture vs fashion or beauty. Biggest take away, it helps if the photographer understands their subject's character and personality so their gaze or body language exudes authenticity.
I've decided to pursue portraiture to add to my repertoire.
