In NL2 photographer Martin Hierck exposes the design and planning of the Dutch landscape and infrastructure. In square pictures he zooms in to the furthest detail. The project goes beyond the clichés of windmills, canals and tulip fields. Artful ‘still lives’ allow the viewer to see The Netherlands in a different light. Alongside Hierck’s images, journalist Jean-Pierre Geelen describes the state of the country in an essay. Together they paint a contemporary and provoking portrait that forces you to keep looking and thinking.
