El Quesir is a small coastal town located on the western coast of the Red Sea. It was founded about 5000 years ago by the Egyptians and its ancient name was Leukos Limen. It has always been an important crossroads of trade between east and west, and perhaps the only true village with historical roots which is found along the Egyptian coasts. In recent years, thanks also to Marsa Alam El Quesir airport, it has been very close to the large tourist flow, slowly becoming an Egyptian tourist center and I dare say, perhaps losing and distorting something of its ancient origins.
