Life On The Line
Since 2014 Eastern Ukraine has been divided by a gruesome civil war. As the pile of bodies grew, the once lively, adventurous and heroic atmosphere on the frontlines grew bitter and jaded. Today the conflict sits in gridlock – each side dug into the landscape only a few hundred meters away from each other. The frontlines are quiet. However, the fighting continues, with shelling attacks and firefights slowly but surly continuing to collect the war's 'blood debt' – both sides having lost far too much to lay down their weapons altogether.
For the men fighting on the frontline, their trenches and makeshift outposts have become their home, and the war their lifestyle. Throughout my time covering the conflict, I granted the opportunity to live alongside those on the frontline.
This series is dedicated to the marvelous and monstrous men on both sides of the conflict.
