As a street photographer, I usually expect people to help me create some interesting images. But when a sandstorm hit Lanzarote back in February, there weren't any people left to shoot on the streets. My usual subjects were gone and I wasn't too sure what to photograph.
But things quickly changed. The sky turned yellow and there was something interesting to these apocalyptic scenes. Some of them felt like a mix of Hockney x Hopper x Blade Runner. They look a lot more peaceful than they actually were, with the sound of the winds gusting up to 120km/h.
Today as people stay home, the feeling is the same — all a bit empty and not so real. But eventually, this storm will go away and we'll return to our normal lives.
