Transition

Johnny has a secret place, hidden in the woods just over the City Bridge. It's here, in this safe refuge where he can become Jazzahnae. As an artist, Johnny's story was compelling and his image was powerful. He's transitioning from male to female while living on the streets during a pandemic. His journey is difficult, unclear and complicated. His identities of Johnny and Jazzahnae are at once interlaced, woven and blurred. I think these images highlight the overlap of his two spirits. Johnny told me that transition could be confusing and that he himself is often confused and that it's ok. I hope Johnny's Soul takes him where he longs to be.
