Australia’s wild horse number in excess of 1 million animals, and they are simultaneously regarded as historic icons and feral pests. Their hard hooves have a negative impact from the fragile arid landscape of the deep desert all the way to the button grass highlands of the alps and Great Dividing Range.
Regular school attendance for Aboriginal students is an ongoing battle for the Federal Government and also for teachers and parents in many remote communities. A unique learning program was developed to encourage attendance. When the school began offering the Certificate II in Rural Operation students were given the opportunity to visit an Outstation and learn the skills necessary for working horses and more specifically Brumby’s.
