Overlay

Overlay is a series of self-portraits that imply an intimate and solitary inner search for an identity, representing some cultures and countries I have been close to or lived in, that have reshaped me and made me who I am. They have all left an impression on me that has become part of the many layers of bodily experiences. Covering my body with paint to embrace those layers enabled me in some ways to create new beings. As this series is about my inner self, it was important that the creation and realization were entirely produced by me. Integral to this series was holding on to the veracity of the original image, in order to keep the authenticity of my working process in front of the camera.
