Torovenado Festival in Monimbo is an Indigenous neighborhood of the Nicaraguan city of Masaya. Torovenado is a joyful dance and satire carnival, in the form of a street procession, filled with dance, costumes, and burlesque. Parents dress their kids in different homemade costumes, mixing local traditions and beliefs with colonial folk clothes, and indigenous elements, all made using the limited resources and a lot of ingenuity. Although restrictions on public gatherings in Nicaragua weren't imposed during celebrations that took place last year, participants were cautious about their safety.
