For the Sake of the Song

My photography is a bluntly honest diary of my world. In a culture that values productivity for monetary gain, I value leisurely time spent with loved ones. Both strengthened by nature and in collective struggle against the detritus of civilization, I hope to present the power of intimate dialogue as central to relationship. I explore the fluctuating spectrum between pride and shame, how psyches cope in their challenging worlds. I cherish such psychological introspection with friends, family and lovers, celebrating our human connection as a means for realization. Similar to how modernist painters choose emotional frankness over aesthetic perfection, I primarily use an inexpensive point and shoot camera for the same purpose. The camera travels where I do and requires little technical skill, allowing me to access it quickly to capture the essential moments before they pass. With the goal of depicting honest interpretations of my relationships, I refrain from manipulating the setting within the frame of the photograph.
