This series of works was shot in Mahong Village, Meigu County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, during the Yi People's New Year in 2021. The region is a remote part of China and most of its people are still poor. According to media reports, by the end of 2019, there were 5.51 million people living in poverty in rural areas under current standards, with the elderly, the sick and the disabled accounting for 45.7 percent of the total. By 2020, there are still 52 poverty-stricken counties. Media reports say the Chinese government will eliminate poverty by 2020.
