Dog Days: To the Greeks and Romans, the “dog days” occurred around the day when Sirius appeared to rise just before the sun, in July 22 - Aug 22. They referred to these days as the hottest time of the year, a period that could bring fever or even catastrophe. ⁠ ⁠ I have had dogs as pets for most of my life, and they are a favorite topic of my 40 + years collection of 'Animal Antics'.
