Sunrise Rituals

The project is an examination of Home as a feeling of tenderness between father and son. Every morning, my son awakens before sunrise and together we begin a silent ritual; a daily repetition of actions and symbols of parenthood: bottles, hugs, and play. The project sheds light on how parental affection is perceived differently between fathers and mothers, reexamining traditional roles in parenthood. The series proposes compassion and vulnerability as pillars of fatherhood. This work took place in the twilight between each passing day and the arrival of a new one; quiet moments when we are alone in our togetherness. In these daily transitions, familiarity, comfort and affection created an emotional warmth closer to the idea of Home than the physical space we inhabit.
