These pictures were taken over the period of the first and second lockdowns we had in Northern Ireland. At first Derry had been one of the areas least affected by the virus but later on we had the highest infection rate in western Europe. It was a hard time to photograph as the world I'd known had largely emptied of people. The challenge was to at very least capture a sense of the world we'd entered and to mark and document this strange period of time. The series is dedicated to my Aunt Mai, who we lost to covid early in the first wave. In ár gcroíthe go deo.
