Ineffable Energy

In my humble opinion, images are energy. Knowing when to focus on in a scene to photograph is about feeling that energy. That is why sometimes my images are of completely different scenarios. Being "drawn' to something is ineffable, something i cannot explain. Capturing it's image is meaningful to me because whatever the essence is, it is what i look forward to finding out more about what is in that image. through looking at it again and again and playing with shadows and light and the complexities of it, I feel as though i am 'revealing' what initially ‘connected me to that image. For example, the image "The Immortals" was a pile of wood chips in a field that conveyed some otherworldly presence, maybe a loneliness, or a sense of loss. I had no idea why I had to make a pilgrimage to this pile of woodchips to photograph it for two days. Later it would be one of the most commented on images of my work, viewers seeing loss, seeing their lives and longings in the image. It was even selected by Billboard Creative and given a spot on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. So energy is palpable in a scene, a setting, an arrangement of items or a chance moment . Focusing it and documenting the “’ineffable energy”is my way of conveying it to others. Sometimes I become fixated concepts and so it goes, again the entire process plays out.
