Sweet Cage Within (All Shadows) 2021

The Birdcage series began in 2020. A chance encounter led to meeting a person who was parting with his birdcage collection. I found the careful and beautiful construction irresistible. It sat in the studio for awhile, and when I went to move it, I was compelled to really explore it as I have been exploring objects that have meaning for me. This meant documenting it from within and without. Combining it with other objects to understand why this beauty fascinates me, and speaks to me. In an effort to transcend what is known of this to reveal something new.
