Andrew was born in Montreal, Canada but has lived in Los Angeles since he was ten. His first exposure to photography was in high school in the 1970’s where he shot primarily black & white and processed and printed his own work.
In 1992, Andrew picked up a Wista Field 45DX 4x5 medium format camera nd went through his Ansel Adams phase shooting landscapes at Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Monterey and San Francisco. Although Andrew continued to dabble in photography, he didn’t seriously return to photography until after his children were grown and he had the freedom to focus on more than his kids growing up. His journey back into photography started with a Leica M7 and then a Leica M-E.
Initially, Andrew started taking pictures of his travels, which ultimately led him towards street photography. For Andrew, street photography was a natural way to immerse himself into the local cultures of the countries he visited. He found capturing a fleeting moment forever, engaging and quite rewarding.
Currently, Andrew is expanding his work into chronicling his life in a COVID-19 world.
