In this series I hope to illustrate the loneliness and surreal isolation one can feel in an urban environment.
Street photography challenges me to engage with and be present in the world around me. This collection of photographs represents moments when I felt I was fully participating in the dance of life.
In Las Vegas (image # 1) I noticed identical twins in matching outfits pass by me to play the slots. In Florence (image #6), I watched as a group of children played dead while a duo of buskers serenaded them. In Brooklyn (image #7), I saw a man with angel wings exiting a car door. I am inspired every day to get out and find these moments because they give me a sense of connection to a larger force.
The public life of the city street is made up of millions of private experiences. While these photographs were taken in a few different cities, it is my hope that they together illustrate a more universal urban condition, a kind of collective estrangement that is specific to living amongst strangers.
