Sarah is an award-winning photographer and painter residing in central Connecticut. Her work has been accepted into galleries and juried shows, including those at the Art Center East, Art League of New Britain, Essex Art Association Gallery, Hygienic Art, the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, Mystic Museum of Art, Rowayton Art Center, Shoreline Arts Alliance, and Spectrum Gallery. Awards include Best Photo, Best Painting, and Best of Show in various juried shows. This month, her photos “Baby’s Breath” and “Profile of Strength” were accepted into the “IMAGES Fall 2021: A Change of Season” exhibition. She had a selected artist for the Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary Art Corridor show, a solo show at The Hawk Ridge Winery, and a two-month solo show at The Clinton Art Gallery, all in 2020.
Her photos have been selected for the covers of Connecticut Horse Magazine, and she was selected as a top equine artist in the article “Equine Art of the Heart”. Sarah Grote has been the official photographer for the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue (CDHR) and the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum since 2014.In December of 2015, she was unanimously elected to the Board of Directors CDHR and is the VP of the Board of Directors. Her photography was used for the “Demolish or Preserve: The 1960’s at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion” exhibit, which won the most prestigious award given by the American Association of State and Local History (AASLH). Her photos have been featured in local, regional, natio
