In composing and coloring my images, balance is my guidepost. This includes the balance of objects within a picture and how they are physically laid out. But even more important to my work is the relationship of colors to each other, the emotions they bring as they interact, and how their balance or imbalance gives shape to the piece. My works are rooted in photography and manipulated digitally. But in order to steer away from the conventional feel of a digital photograph, I use those same tools not just to enhance or correct, but to achieve a painterly result that brings the viewer more through color.
