Lullaby is a series borne of the Covid 19 pandemic. Like many of our children, my youngest daughter had nightmares as we went into lockdown especially when we all began wearing masks. She was unable to reconcile the use of masks as a protective measure with those concealing illness. Her nightmares triggered memories of my own. I thought it worth revisiting them applying the skills and knowledge I have gained as an adult. I now have a better understanding of what these dreams represented and I have developed the ability to view them from a more mature and safe perspective.
What resulted is a series of mixed media collages, one piece in the series for each nightmare that recurred during my often challenging childhood. Each image invites you to take the journey through the nightmare with me, and to help me remaster my childhood using imagery and journaling to finally rise above. To rewrite my narratives.
