During my 4 years stay in China, I captured the mutation of the urban landscape. Project Disappearance is mainly based in industrial and heritage city called Suzhou. This city is nearby Shanghai on the East coast in the booming developing China. I focused on trace of past being push of away by the modern economic society. The Chinese society is an eternal repetition of growth as the wheel of life. This approach is on contradiction with the western culture that believes on discontinuing line of life. As an outsider, I have often asked myself about the soul of China. Due to economic pressure, real estate is flourishing and a lot of old houses are demolished or abandoned. Memories are gone and places are empty. The shifting to one state to another is creating loneliness and emptiness. It is the time of disappearance. I have been out of France for the last 10 years so my personality merges and changes with the countries I lived and live in. At this point of time, project Disappearance helps me to absorb Asian culture and understand that the lost of old memory was just a normal process of evolution of society.
