This project is part of “Emotion Record Museum” (2014-), a series of portrait photographic projects and exhibitions that engage in dialogue with different people. In “The Most Important Little Things in Life”, I recorded several severe patients.
As early as 2015, volunteers from The Chongqing Mutual Aid Association started daily visits to seriously ill members. During three years of interviews, the volunteers found that people's perceptions of patients with severe illnesses were often single and rigid.
So I was invited to participate in the creation of “The Most Important Little Things in Life” (2018). I chose "What is the most important thing for you right now" as the main question and sought answers from seriously ill patients. At the same time, when recording “The Silent Confession”, the video part of this work, I deliberately let the subjects say what they want to say most without making any sound, even I don't know what they are saying and to whom. After filming, I invited the subjects to write an essay entitled "The Most Important Little Things in Life".
Long or short human years, or bitter or sweet, or true or false hazy feelings, or happiness or sorrow of this present life. While we are wasting it, it is wasting away.
So, what are the most important little things in your life?
