Can women be sexy without being portrayed as sex kittens? Photographer Noortje Palmers believes so, and decided to prove it with the series "Girls": models with retro swimming caps who beam at you in the pool or in a colourful background, such as brightly coloured caravans and industrial properties. "It strikes me that pictures of women in a sexy context are almost always made by male photographers. 'Sexy' becomes thus a synonym for 'provoking', but there is more and that is what I wanted to prove. I love beautiful, seductive women. With this work, I show their frail, gentle and cheerful side. These women are the life of the party. The result is my interpretation of 'sexy,'" said Noortje.
