Tsion

This is my first portrait work. I am making a series of women who inspire me on and offline and Tsion is one of those muses. For each muse I wanted to think of a make-up look that was empowering and that expresses their individual personality and that accompanies the setting of the shoot. For this project is was blue. Blue represents both the sky and the sea and is therefore associated with open spaces and freedom. It also represents confidence, sensitivity and inspiration. Tsion is someone who is really open-minded, she is sensitive to other people and wants to help people in any way possible. She is an inspiration to others and loves to take inspiration and happiness from the little things in life. Tsion posts on TikTok and on Instagram about bodypositivity, being a person of colour and how to practise self-love. I wanted to get to know more about her before the photoshoot because I wanted to make work that carries out a message and that shows how beautiful people of colour are. We talked about different topics: Identity, racism, self-love, confidence,etc. Tsion was very happy with the photo's and that for me is already a great achievement. I hope you like them too! All the pictures are shot on film. I only work with film because I find it the most authentic to take pictures with. For this series authenticity is something I really want to shine through so that is also why film lends itself so well to this project. This project was shot on NIKONF50 / 100 and 80-200mm lens.
