When I was a young photo-optimist I was living in Paris, I was an intern in a big photo agency, living in a small studio, with no big incomes, but I had a suitcase, carried form Italy, with inside a short equipment to develop bw films and make contact sheets. I guessed that the only way I had to sell some pictures without any enlarger (the agency didn’t allow me to use its own) was making a double shoot, a quick sequence, on 4x5 films and print them together near or overlapped, making a sort of collage or mosaic, in order to have a final satisfying image. Years after, I decided to replicate my Parisian experience, in Milan (my hometown), mashing 4x5 inch silver films for shooting, and ink jet fine art technology to print the final works, and in the middle I used digital photo retouching to merge in the proper and satisfying way the double shot. I submitted today five portraits of this series, these are my favorites ones from the photo project. I am actually working on 4 new portraits, next ones are coming. The series will be made of a maximum of 20 pictures.
Thank It was magic portraying new models, mixing older and newer techniques in a new work, driven by the same original inspiration!
