The images captured in a moment where there is no clear thought, where there is no reaction or fear, are authentic and magically ineffable. It is a depiction of the realization of an event occurring that has no narrative. It cannot be planned, constructed or arranged. It is a gift.
I am interested in this fleeting state because it is an opportunity we (as humans) have to rescript our narratives. It is a moment of pause where thought, history and self-interest have not yet conspired within us to create the narratives we inevitably play out. This split second is sublime. It is this rare moment that makes candid photographic art relevant today.
