LIFE IN BURMA
Project info

Burma was controlled by a military dictatorship until 2011. Under this regime many Burmese suffered through genocide, rapes, child labor and lack of freedom of speech. Since Aung San Suu Kyi became Prime Minister in Burma, their social issues, domestic economy and relationship with other countries has been radically improved. She won the Nobel Peace Prize. Burma is one of the developing countries in South Asia. They are very strong for agriculture and the manufacture of clothing and also rely on tourism. Even though they are still one of the poorest countries in the world, they are known to be a happy people.

I photographed Burmese daily life, including the people working at farms, factories, and in flea markets. I saw their smiles. A large family may be living in a very small home, but everyone enjoys their life and enjoys what they have.
