Gweilo

As a "ghostly man" (Gweilo) I wander the streets in plain view. This probably best describes my first 6 months in Hong Kong. Now after 5 years I am using that superpower to turn the mirror back on the life that I see. Gweilo or gwailou is a common Cantonese slang term for Westerners or ghostly man. The hardest pictures to make are the ones in your home town. I changed mine in 2018 and found I was out of sync. Nothing resonated and I was not particularly welcome. Try and try again as I did I was unable to scratch the surface. Years have now passed and I have finally understood and accepted that I am effectively invisible. Far from being upset, I am using my superpower to reflect what I see.
