First Incense burning on Chinese new year

Buddhism is one of three main religion in China. In Shanghai, there's at least one buddhism temple each town in Shanghai. On Chinese new year of 2022, Shanghai Long Hua Temple resumed to allow incense burning and pray after COVID 19 pandemic. Many natives went to this 1780years history buddhism temple to burn the first incense of the year and pray for health, good luck, love etc. However no one would know Shanghai was locked because of omicron pendemic after one and a half months. How are these common persons?
