These photographs were selected from a recently published monograph - Times Square 2011 - 2015. My intent was to make photographs that captured the interaction of people in an urban environment that is constantly in flux. Although the project focuses on Times Square, the images reflect my desire to make photographs that work individually, as well as in a documentary context. They illustrate visual themes that have always been of interest to me including irony and the chance juxtaposition of people and elements in the social landscape. I place a great deal of importance on composition and the color relationships that establish the structure of the images. I think this reflects my kinship with painting as well as photography.
