The family Paradox
In The Family Paradox series Stephanie stages rituals moments with her family which give birth to a variety of results, from performance to sculpture and these results and actions are fixed by photography. She develops a sculptural dimension in her photographic process, transforming the sculpture in picture and then the picture in sculpture.
The Family Paradox is a multidisciplinary environment, a meeting place for the world of the family and that of astronomy; here, these two worlds come into collision to create new forms of mental mapping that oscillate between reality and cinematic fiction. Rituals and dysfunctional family structures intersect with the complex workings of the universe. The everyday object and the cosmos coexist in an exhibitional scenario created by the artist in which space-time distortions, images in images and disappearances mark the visitor’s trajectory.
