A camera. Just like a magnifying glass, in front of a woman it provokes conflicting reactions. In Italian women in particular, it brings out emotions that take them back to their deepest idea of themselves. How do they live and deal with this emotional experience? Why? What do they think?
Starting with a hood as a sign of protection - a typically adolescent behaviour - I ‘interviewed’ 77 ‘Italian female souls’ in my studio.
The body and its physical characteristics are a theme that influences the attitude with which the subjects approach photography.
For this reason, I took up the ancient process of cyanotype, printed on a textured cotton paper that is beautiful to touch, and let the thoughts of these women impress themselves in the sun with their own timeless portrait. Emotional contrasts, psycho/chemical reactions become part of a process of acceptance and recognition of ourselves today.
