For years I wanted to experiment with shooting techniques that are not really part of beauty photography. Beauty photography generally privileges the artistry to the photography element, which almost becomes a way to record intricate shading, blending and lines on a model's face. This time I decided to ignore the commercial needs of this genre and take a bit of a creative tangent incorporating techniques such as second curtain flash as well as slow shutter speed shooting. I still wanted to keep one of my key skills, the shooting of beautiful skin texture and add an element of sensuality to it. This is how this project came about. The choice of model came quite easy as I have been a massive fan of Gabrielle's singing for a while and I knew she would deliver both in terms of beauty and on the soul element. Paula Maxwell was in charge of the beautiful make up. The result is a series of images which explore movement, colour and texture in a harmonic symphony of beauty.
