Vanitas
This project is a modern take on still life genre that was especially popular with Dutch painters in the 16th and 17th centuries. The themes that appear in such still lifes are in principle quite morbid and dark. Grotesqueness prevails; themes such as transience, meaninglessness of pleasure, transience of life, and certainty of death are also the driving force behind this project.
