This series is called ‘Alleyways’ and was shot during my photo journeys to Hong Kong and Japan which took place in the past 8 months.
The urban settings in Japan and Hong Kong harbour a refined fusion of old and new, a mixture of traditional and modern, and - a cocktail of Asian and Western elements.
While the picture-perfect skylines of the cities were captivating, my favourite photos were not taken at the “Instagram-famous” locations; instead, they were taken down quiet backstreets and dirty alleyways.
The series reflects my fascination for nightly scenes which take place in backstreets and alleyways. I am obsessed with involuntary aesthetic. I always look for an interplay between the rubbish, garbage containers, pausing kitchen personnel, and the gracious shattering of light these places harbour.
