My photography series, "Land | Sea," explores the depths of my work and finding the connections and comparisons between the land in winter, the sea in summer and that of myself and my children.
The purpose of this series has been a form of healing from the trauma that has been my motherhood experience. These two places are where myself and my family frequent in order to escape but also survive the monotony of family life and it’s where I find myself most creative.
Utilizing juxtapositions, my photographs capture the unique compositions which at times came be hauntingly similar between myself and my family with the surrounding environment. By using this method I hope that my work pushes boundaries in how my work is viewed. That I’m not just a mother who takes photos of her children but someone who can create art when at times she feels as though she can’t. My hopes is that this series can stir the viewer with its obscurity and value the role that the mother/artist can play in society.
