I view these Snapshots as photographs that extend from my collection of everyday pictures acquired on eBay. All of these images are born from the act of capturing light on light-sensitive materials, just like traditional photographs. However, in the modern context, prints can be produced using various mediums, not all of which rely on light sensitivity. Approaches to printing vary, from emulating Ansel Adams' style to adopting techniques akin to the Starn Twins.
In this creative process, we harness tools such as Photoshop and utilize inks like Ultrachrome or latex, among others. These tools serve as our modern-day "zone systems," guiding us towards our envisioned final rendition. Yet, rather than a linear path to a print, I personally craft the "print" by filtering the image through my own perspective, shaped by years of immersion in photography. Employing traditional techniques and materials, I aim to arrive at one of several potential interpretations.
These interpretations may span the spectrum from fine art to folk art, contingent upon my grasp of the methodologies involved. Notably, I choose not to display the original vernacular prints that I collect alongside their extensio
