This series of images highlights some of the diverse impacts of climate change globally:
North Miami Beach, where dark storm clouds roll in towards an oblivious public.
Los Angeles, where sea levels are projected to rise by a foot in as little as thirty years, leading to widespread and frequent flooding, degradation of infrastructure and coastal erosion.
Fiordland, in the remote south-west of New Zealand, where excessive rainfall is dropping ever-increasing amounts of freshwater into the lakes and fiords, threatening the entire region’s sustainability as a carbon sink.
Quebec, Canada, where rising temperatures are resulting in less lake ice, threatening the viability of ice fishing.
And London, England, where persistent warm temperatures are increasing the growth of harmful algae and cyanobacteria in the Regent’s Canal and elsewhere.
Views may differ on the extent to which human activities, and in particular the burning of fossil fuels, have contributed and are contributing to climate change. But this argument seems moot at this point, as the climate emergency is upon us. In other words, you are entitled to your own opinions; but you are not entitled to your own facts,
