The series «Elements.» is dedicated to the four basic elements water, earth, fire and air. Coming from the Greek mythology, those four elements represent the fundaments of the nature and everything that surrounds and nurtures human life. Originally, the ancient Greeks saw the 4 elements as the ground of our world and stood for the answer to the question “What is our earth (made of…)?”Following this, the four elements have been a starting point of all modern natural science.
With increasing urbanisation, global civilisations and digital environment, life on earth has become more and more complex leading us to loose our relation to nature. In this fast-paced surrounding, we tend to forget the beauty of simplicity. We may detach from the ability to appreciate simple things and take time to go back to some important fundamentals of life.
With this series, I want to bring back a sense of nature right into our soul, to connect human beings with the basic grounds of our earth and strengthen this connection to mother nature. I carefully selected and built four different set ups to represent each element separately in the form of portrait photography.
