The Foxtail Agave, scientifically known as Agave atenuata, is a common succulent thriving in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, where my family resides. During my last visit, which coincided with the rainy season in the tropics, the water cleansed these plants of debris. This presented me with a unique opportunity to capture them through photography. The plant's graceful curves and interaction with natural light have always captivated me. To convey these attributes, I employed a digital camera, capturing the Agave from various angles and experimenting with different lenses and depths of field (D.O.F.) under diverse lighting conditions. Subsequently, I processed the images using Photoshop. To accentuate the shapes and forms, I chose to convert the photos into black and white. It's worth noting that my utilization of artificial intelligence was confined to the adjustments within Photoshop's Camera Raw, including selective filters. No generative AI technology was applied to any of the images.
