I photographed the various stages to document the metaphoric freeing of oneself of the gender expectation that society has placed on women for generations.
Burning the dresses was not an act of anger of violence but of transformation.
I wanted my images so show that being brave and going against what is expected of you is frightening but makes you feel wild and alive, like the fire. and that something new, tender and fresh will grow out from even the most burned and broken thing.
