Elevation Process

I started doing the first studies on my own. I decided to work on the theme of travelling since I feel it is part of my life. Leaving one's country of origin entails an infinity of losses, a mourning with many facets that can generate from maximum relief and happiness to deep sadness. The grief experienced by those who leave home is not a new phenomenon, in fact it is as old as humanity itself. We have always been caught between the pole of curiosity and the desire to know, to explore new territories, and the pole of the need to put down roots and anchor ourselves in known territories. When I started premeditating the work, I thought of 'Elevation Process' to define the process that transforms this suffering into learning. Photography was the starting point for my first works, and I followed this with the production of short films. The absence of consciousness and colours characterises the first chapter of the work. Inspired by the Platonic myth of the 'cave', these are monochrome photographs taken at the Rocce Rosse in Arbatax, Sardinia (Italy).
