The light in the far north of Norway has stayed with me on my many trips in recent years. In the Arctic region north of the Arctic Circle, the weather is constantly changing. Storms come up, northern lights dance in the sky and occasionally it gets as warm as in regions farther south. The constant change never ceases to amaze me and the vastness of the landscape shows how small the individual human being is in the face of this magnificent natural landscape. With my pictures I would like to give an insight into this great landscape.
The amazing photographer Ragnar Axelsson and his pictures of the north have been a huge influence for me since I have watched his film ` Faces of the North´ and seen some of his exhibitions. I do hope that the poetry which I feel when I have a look on my pictures may be recognisable for others. There is a slideshow with Axelsson´s photographs on the internet which is entitled with the words `Happy depression´. This heading hooked me and, being a violinist and teacher, I often have a look on my photographs while listening to music by Ludovico Einaudi and Arvo Pärt which makes me dive deeper into the mood of my pictures.
