Botanical Observations

Encouraging reflection on the beauty and significance of the natural world is central to my art. In the series Botanical Observations, I present layered views of plant and leaf textures. The blended images create unexpected juxtapositions and new patterns, encouraging a closer examination. The word observe comes from the latin observare, meaning to watch, regard, note, or heed, but also to guard. I love the idea that if we truly observe the natural world that we will strive to protect it.
