Nowhere

Light and water are not only integral to our lives but serve as a means to study the world and its phenomena. Historically, there is a strong relationship between these elements and photography. My work situates itself in a world of traditional methods, while experimenting with materials to explore fundamental aspects of the natural world that lay outside our initial perception. Unseen phenomena are exaggerated to a point in which we can begin to study their existence. This project aims to investigate the richness rooted in the close observation of our natural world through a reductive photographic approach pushing back on digital technology. Time and care are embedded in this means of production, rendering the work as an ode to natural wonder. Technically speaking all the images in this project were created by using a pane of glass and water among other elements during the photographic process, the result being a series of projected happenings recording the nature of those elements at a specific time. I question the definition of the lens. My work expands this definition to that of a pane of glass, as a means to see the unexplored worlds within our own.
